Fresh horseradish root is one of nature’s boldest and most invigorating culinary plants—valued for its intense aroma, fiery flavour, and long history of traditional use for both food and wellness. Grown organically at KoruKai Herb Farm, Banks Peninsula, New Zealand, our roots are harvested fresh, washed, and packed to preserve their quality and potency.
Horseradish develops its strongest heat and flavour when freshly grated or chopped, releasing the pungent oils that give it its distinctive kick. This fresh preparation offers a vibrant taste that far surpasses most store-bought versions.
It can be used as a flavourful substitute for wasabi or black radish, and is a classic ingredient in homemade horseradish sauce. It is also widely used in traditional Fire Cider recipes and makes a fantastic condiment alongside hearty meat dishes, roasted vegetables, beans, and winter meals.
Traditionally, horseradish has been valued for supporting healthy digestion, circulation, respiratory function, and immune resilience. It has also been associated with a range of wellness benefits including promoting vitality and stimulating the body naturally.

Once your roots arrive, store them in the refrigerator.
For easiest preparation, grate or process the roots within one week, as they become firmer and harder over time.
We recommend shredding the root in a food processor, as hand grating can be very challenging due to the dense texture. Alternatively, chop very finely by hand.
Please note: the pungent vapours released while processing can be strong—good ventilation is recommended.

I got some horseradish roots this week and the roots are so fresh. I grated them with a food processor, which was a bit struggling at first, so I chopped them smaller by hand and then it worked well. They are very pungent and clear your sinuses! Amazing quality! Thanks KoruKai for providing such a great product.
It is so much nicer than the supermarket stuff - delicious. Made a stroganoff for tea tonight and some of this in a bit of sour cream just cut the richness of the beef.
Great to have the real stuff for once, supermarket horseradish is not good.<br /> Will enjoy it with some salmon and will give the Fire Cider recipe a try for sure!
