ComposTex Compost Covers—also known as compost fleece—are a high-performance, breathable, non-woven fabric made from 100% UV-resistant polypropylene. Designed specifically for composting systems, this material provides an ideal balance of protection and airflow, making it an essential tool for managing compost piles and windrows in all weather conditions.
Unlike fully sealed covers that can suffocate compost and create anaerobic conditions, ComposTex allows oxygen to pass through the fabric while effectively shedding excess rainfall and snow melt. This helps maintain optimal moisture levels inside the pile, supporting strong microbial activity and efficient decomposition.
By protecting compost from becoming waterlogged while still allowing it to breathe, this cover helps create more consistent, faster, and higher-quality compost. It also reduces nutrient leaching and prevents piles from drying out too quickly in exposed conditions.
At KoruKai Herb Farm, we also use this material as part of a fast, simple, and low-tech worm farming system set directly on the ground—demonstrating its versatility beyond traditional composting applications.
They make an amazing low-tech worm farm. Please see video below.
The 1.20m x 3.66m makes a fantastic worm farm to shed water and let air through.
Features
Exceptional strength and tear resistance
UV-light protected for outdoor durability
Long lifespan of approximately 4 to 15+ years depending on use and exposure
Lightweight and easy to handle and install
Specifications
Material (Fibers): Polypropylene (non-woven)
Colour: Black
Thickness: 1.8 mm
Weight: 200 g/m²

Water shedding: 99% or better (protects against rain and snow melt)
Finish treatment: Thermally stabilised (heat-treated on one side for improved durability)
A durable, breathable compost cover designed to balance protection from the elements with the airflow required for active, healthy composting systems.
Works well. Insulates and keeps the rain out while still letting air in, just as described. Toasty warm. Buying a second one. Thanks.

Compost Cover
I bought this cover from KoruKai last year after watching Cornelias video of her on ground worm farm. I have a worm tower with average results so I wanted to give this a go. The cover is just great, it keeps my worm farm dry even in super wet Auckland plus I use it to cure my compost when I take it out of the compost bin. I even experimented with growing kumara earlier this year by putting a whole kumara under the cover in the worm farm and had amazing results for a first time kumara grower!

A compost thermometer is an essential tool for successful hot composting and worm farming, whether in a home garden or commercial setup.
It provides a clear indication of microbial activity inside your compost pile, helping you determine when to turn it and whether your carbon-to-nitrogen balance is working correctly. Temperature readings quickly show if your mix contains too many “greens” (too hot), too many “browns” (too cold), or insufficient moisture (low microbial activity).
Without temperature monitoring, composting becomes guesswork—this tool allows you to refine your process and consistently produce high-quality compost over time.
Made from stainless steel with a long probe designed to reach deep into compost piles and soil.
Heavy-duty TeaLAB extract bag made from 400 micron nylon mesh and climbing-grade binding, designed for making high-quality compost and vermicast extracts. Durable, reusable, and built to last.
A robust, reusable extraction tool designed for serious gardeners, growers, and soil biology enthusiasts.
Perfect for use in compost extract or tea brewers with included carabiner clip for easy suspension.
Available in two sizes:
Small (23 × 36 cm) – makes approx. 20L
Large (51 × 56 cm) – makes approx. 60–200L (or more in staged batches)
Worms will be available again in August. During the wet and cold winter months, separating the worms from the castings becomes too unpleasant. Sign up below to get an email once they are back in stock.
Composting worms turn food scraps and garden waste into rich, nutrient-dense vermicast—helping regenerate soil, support beneficial microbes, and improve nutrient cycling. This creates healthier, more resilient plants and increases soil water-holding capacity, an important benefit in times of drought and heavy rainfall.
You will receive 250g (approx. 1,000 worms) or 500g (approx. 2,000 worms), supplied with moist bedding in a breathable perforated bag. Worms arrive in a mix of ages and sizes and will quickly breed and multiply under suitable conditions.
This cover crop seeds or green manure seeds mix has been blended to achieve maximum benefit. It can help with common challenges such as compaction, weed pressure, pests and diseases, low fertility, leaching and erosion.
Best sown between August/September and December/January, depending on your climate.
This diverse mix maintains living soil cover in areas that would otherwise be bare. This mix contains seeds from 8 plant families as well as legumes (nitrogen fixing plants), which has been proven in field trials to be very beneficial to build soil structure and to increase beneficial microbes in the soil.
This amazing guide brings together what we have learnt, observed and experienced over the last 12 years of managing several worm farms to get amazing worm castings for our farm and vegetable gardens.
In this guide, with 70 pages, you will learn how to turn food scraps and farm waste into rich compost and fertiliser to regenerate soil and bring back life force to the below ground livestock - the microbes. This turns on nutrient cycling, grows resilient and healthy plants and increases the water holding capacity of soil - a necessity with droughts and flooding that go hand in hand nowadays.
Healthy soil is the backbone of health - be it environmental, animal, plant or human health. It's our foundation and the solution to a lot of our problems.

A specially formulated blend designed to support a thriving worm farm ecosystem. It provides essential nutrients, calcium, grit, carbon, and trace elements to keep your worms active and productive.
Made with lime, humates, seaweed, and biochar, this blend helps balance pH, enhance beneficial fungi, and improve nutrient retention for healthier, more efficient composting.
