Elderberry syrup boosts the immune system and relieves the symptoms of viral conditions.
Elderberries are rich in vitamin C, immune enhancing and anti-viral. They have been used as a winter remedy for centuries.
The elderberries for this kit are harvested by hand, selecting the ripest and darkest berries. Then the berries are dried in our KoruKai Herb Farm drying shed.
We stongly believe that natural health care should be in the home kitchen. There is something magical that happens when you are the one stirring the pot and adding your own love and healing energy to the final product. We are proud to provide you with our hand-harvested elderberries grown on Banks Peninsula for this craft.

Please note that our KoruKai Herb Farm Elderberry Syrup is made in a different way by juicing the fresh elderberries on the day of harvest and useing this juice as base for the syrup (see below). Using dried berries is often used at home as it makes it easier in a home kitchen.
Have a look below how we juice the berries.
Juicing Elderberries at KoruKai Herb Farm after the first harvest of the season (February 2020)
Night shift at KoruKai Herb Farm. First day of elderberry harvest and as they are processed on the same day, it will be a long night. We will be listening to good music and get this job done with some fun. Check out the density of that juice. Just gorgeous! We steam juice the berries and then press them with a fruit press to squeeze out the last little drop. For 1kg of berries we get 500ml of juice. This is further reduced to a syrup with the addition of certifed organic cinnamon sticks and ginger. Honey is added at the end. So dense, packed with cold and virus-fighting goodness and gosh it's yumm - best product for children's immune system and they love to take it.
